Standardized format has been prepared by a National level committee for standardization of transliteration (Indian languages to English Roman script) format for Indian languages for transliterating words with the diacritical mark for the National Library, Kolkata. In this bibliography the same standardized format is used for Author, Translator, Editor, Compiler and Title of the document without the diacritical mark.
Examples are given below as the user’s reference for the use of the bibliography.
Examples:-
           ‘a’ is used for transliterating a and aa as in case of Gora , Dakghar
           ‘i’ is used for transliterating i and ee as in case of Sangit , Prithibi
           ‘au’ is used for transliterating ou as in case of Kautuk , Daulat
           ‘b’ is used for transliterating ba as in case of Bisva , Bismay
           ‘c’ is used for transliterating ch as in case of Candalika , Citrangada
           ‘ch’ is used for transliterating chh as in case of Chinnapatra , Chaya
           ‘cch’ is used for transliterating chchhas in case of Galpaguccha
           ‘d’ is used for transliterating da and d as in case of Dakghar , Bides
           ‘d’ is also used for transliterating r with dapronunciation as in case of Nashtanid
           ‘I’ is used for transliterating both the i and ee as in case of Gitanjali ,Nashtanid
           ‘jna’ is used for transliterating gyan as in case of Bijnan , Pratijna
           ‘ksh’ is used for transliterating khya as in case of Kshama
           ‘m’ is used for transliterating anuskar as in case of Bamsa , Dhvamsa
           ‘s’ is used for transliterating sh and sa as in case of Sisu , Sancayita
           ‘sh’ is used for transliterating third sa as in case of Sesher kabita
           ‘u’ is used for transliterating u and uu as in case of Gurudeb , Rup
           ‘v’ is used for transliterating v and w as in case of Bisvanath , Visva-Bharati
           ‘v’ is also used for transliterating Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Maithili, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil and Telugu languages.
           Va or w as in case of Kavita , Visva-Bharati
Rabindranath is transliterated as Ravindranath in case of Gujarati,Hindi, Kannada, Maithili, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil and Telugu languages. Surnames like Bandyopadhyay, Chattopadhyay and Mukhopadhyay of the Author, Translator, Editor and Compiler are transliterated under the heading Authors/Editors as Bandyopadhyay, Cattopadhyay and Mukhopadhyay. But under the Main entry or Heading it is spelt as Banerji, Catterji and Mukherji respectively .
